I am obsessed with college branding particular ones from the past. When I discovered Homefield, a collegiate apparel company founded by fellow Indiana University alumsi, I emptied my wallet and further grew my intrigue for vintage college logos. I applied for a designer position there and I thought I could get an extra leg on the other candidates with clothing mockups. Homefield used to drop a new school clothing items through what they called Big New Saturday, a play on Big Noon Saturday (Fox's college football television program). I thought I could take this sale/marketing campaign and use it for my BNS mockup.
I wanted to create apparel mockups for an university was not been available on Homefield website yet. The research for the right school didn't last long as Columbia University (of New York) stood out very quickly to me. Their past logos were truly pieces of art, particularly the art deco lion and Heisman trophy posed lion. This collection of vintage logos were too good not to put onto a t-shirt or sweatshirt. Columbia's long history dripped of great ideas including the university's orginal name King's College and their fight song "Roar Lion Roar." I really wished these clothing mockups actually went to print because this collection is dripping with SWAG!
