Me: Everywhere, everything all at once

Type: Digital Illustration, Vector Illustration • Tools: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Firefly

An illustration series of me as movie, TV, and anything-pop-culture-related characters built on a life-altering pandemic and the boredom that followed.

I was looking to find a new creative outlet when the world completely turned up side down. I spent much of my time during the COVID-19 pandemic watching TV and movies since I could only walk the dog so much. My illustrative style is always evolving over time as I pick up new skills and my artistic taste changes. This series began where I left off with #toontuesday. The big change began when I decided to have AI part of the creative process.

I know AI can be a trigger word and it is a hot topic across every industry, but particularly creative ones. I only used AI when I wanted to play around with colors. The generative color tool in Adobe Illustrator led to color palettes and gradients that were far out and trippy (which I loved). The written prompt depended on the illustration's character. An example: me as a X-wing pilot, colors came together based on a specific Star Wars movie action, mood, and/or theme. This tool became an obsession. I recolor-ed over 25 illustrations!

Now, I have a large collection of me(s) that expresses my loves (movies, nerd culture, and sports) and is my testament of always discovering new creative tools. AI (if used correctly) can improve a project just like this one through a unexpected, but also fruitful direction.
