Type: Digital Illustration, Vector Illustration • Tools: Adobe Illustrator

A collection of illustrations drawn for an article that was published on Yale School of Music's website on March 14, 2024.

These illustrations accompanied the article called Shop Talk: concert mishaps and other minor disasters. The gist of the article was several staffers and students anonymously revealed stories of onstage mishaps: instrument failure, page-turn failure, and wardrobe failure. I worked alongside the Director of Communications (Jenny Chen) and Communications Officer (David Bernsilver) to create illustrations for a number of these stories in the article. I was not limited to a certain number, but a deadline and other job responsibilities allowed me to create three illustrations.

I had total creative freedom on which stories to illustrate. I just took stories that stood out from the jump. An opportunity to utilize my greatest skill, digital/vector illustration and the Adobe Illustrator pen tool. The result speaks for itself from fun and engaging illustrations that complimented the article's mood: lighthearted and fun. It did not hit me how much this article and illustrations made headlines across the Yale community until I saw the article included in a weekly email newsletter sent out to every Yale staffer and student. It felt good to see others appreciate my illustration style especially at an university as resepected as Yale.
