A school project at General Assembly that lasted the entire semester. I learned about the lean UX design process, a five step method that uses quick iterations to creat high quality user experiences. It combines design thinking, agile development, and startup principles. This project developed as I learned this creative process. My original hypothesis was to help an ongoing problem: the movie industry is facing a decline in theater attendance. The big breakthrough happened when I created a survey. I intended to discover my classmates, friends, and family movie-theatre-going habits. The conclusion was most people (a limited sample size) do not have a particular movie-theatre-going schedule. It all depends on which movies playing at the show. The project shifted slightly after this discovery.
My original goal faded to a more reasonable solution: a mobile app that helps moviegoers make and organize upcoming movie-theatre-going plans. The name drew upon the unspoken rule of acting, the fourth wall. The goal of this app was to make things easier for moviegoers with earlier/easier access to the latest upcoming movies to a Netflix-like queue to quick/convenient access to your favorite movie theater's showtimes.
My design inspirations came from apps like Spotify and Instagram. I wanted an user interface/user experience that was super friendly to its customers. The app needed return-ability to achieve its goal. I wished I could've seen it through. Yet I am more than happy with its end product.
